Commission: Remilia Scarlet - Deathly Elegance by Darktrified Commission: Remilia Scarlet - Deathly Elegance by Darktrified
Finally done with my commission :iconhoorayplz:

Commission for: :iconpoetryunite:

Had spent some time doing this on and off for quite some time due to my schedule. I do apologise ^^;

Yep. And GAAAH THOSE FRILLS :icontearplz: So many frills to draw. Like what ZUN's rule in his artwork "The character must have frills. The more the better."

I chose the theme "Deathly Elegance" because well, I wasn't given one and I believe this theme fits her well :>

I Haven't done such drawings in a while~! :3 You may have noticed my new watermark. Less intrusive for your viewing pleasure without the ugly DA watermark :XD: The character on my icon is named Mashiro Mito. Knew her through the anime "Tayutama: Kiss On My Deity." Tons of ecchi in there. The manga has lots more :iconotlplz: I know that it's an adaptation of a Eroge but I've never tried it =P

EDIT: Crap. Didn't mean to make her look sleep-deprived. I blame my markers. Might fix it up when I find the time to ^^;

I'm no professional at making critiques, but I hope mine is helpful. :aww:

The character design, for one, is very nice. It's neatly done;your hard work has paid off on those frills too!

The details of the design was shaded properly, as well as her neck and below the dress. :)

I suggest that you should have used a larger canvas-the drawing is very detailed, and detailed drawings may need more space. The way she is holding the sword is a little odd (that's where a larger canvas comes to save the day! :giggle:). Her props were drawn and presented well, though.

This drawing is very beautiful, overall; great job! :clap:

You should by the sketch try to draw the whole body including the feet. This you have cut off and so it looks very ugly. Otherwise, I suggest you the sketch the figure without clothes to draw them later about it. One notices that the arms and legs are range is in the wrong places. I hope it would help you.

Well, the feet being cut off is my camera's fault. It's a complete full body without anything cut off.

Also, for critiques, you need to suggest ways and how to improve in very specific ways. The way you've described the errors in the limbs are quite vague. How are they in the wrong places, specifically, and how can I improve on them?

Though I have checked that the legs are exactly 3 heads in length, the pose of where the legs are is intentional. If you are talking about the range of motion the legs and arms, I don't see a problem [link].

The arm's arn't foreshortened, you have drawed them in full length, als if thes were "hanging" straight down. But if you want to improve in that you need to get them a bit into perspective and shorten the length.

For the legs, I think the main problem lies in the forshortening too of the body. The body seems to be only 1 1/2 heads high. But the legs are drawed out straight for 3. That looks a bit strange.

My general suggestion for you would be to train drawing in perspective, also copy just the base form from others to train your eye on it. I think this should help you in the long run with newer picture =). I hope this helps you a bit more.

Overall the pic is cute, not that you get me wrong on this or so =). Is just some helper for you from me on how you can still further improve.

So keep up the good work.

Nope. Although there are fanmade anime/manga/doujin series of Touhou out there, Touhou is just a game. No anime spinoffs.
